Does Chewing gum increase concentration and/or focus?

Imagine yourself to be taking a long, difficult test, where concentration seems impossible at the time. Experiments attempt to reveal the solution that would increase concentration during simple, cognitive tasks. Although the effects are not long-lasting, if you find yourself “drawing a blank” during a test, chewing gum may help to increase your score by jogging your memory. Chewing mint gum is an effective tool to concentrate, focus, or simply remember something while taking a test that might boost your score by a few points. "News and Policy." BPS Beta Site. An obvious question that comes up in this topic is why the gum actually helps with concentration. Serge Onyper, professor at St. Lawrence, says, “chewing causes an increase in arousal – it helps you wake up. Research suggests that chewing increases heart rate, blood pressure, and cerebal blood flow.” Chewing gum simply allows you/your brain to wake up.
