Technology:
Technology and technology-related skills will become more and more central to our lives each passing year. While our students are now using technology in all aspects of their lives, they also require more support than schools are currently capable of delivering. As one who has always been the "go-to" for staff who need technological help and support, my leadership role will be to help our school establish more effective uses of technology while simultaneously increasing levels of technology-related collaboration in the school. Building capacity for technological change is important for us to continuously improve. I am great at problem-solving technology issues and have used technologies like flipped-instruction videos, SMART Software, and SMART Response for formative assessments as a regular part of my instruction.

There are those who base their self-worth primarily on the results of the most recent test they have taken and others whose confidence in themselves outshines the doubt and uncertainty that middle school can bring. My class if full of all sorts of kids, each a unique set of variables wrapped around and individual brain and a one-of-a-kind heart. By working to understand my students as a unique group and as unique individuals, I can begin to meet them where they are and involve them each in their own learning. This can be complicated in practice, so I’ll use several analogies to shed light on my way of involving

An incident that impacted me significantly occurred when I was in the fifth grade. I was always a high achiever and an “A” student. The 2nd grade classroom of Jody Craddock-Iselin has 20 students and each of them has their own personality. I have been observing this class every Thursday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. where I am learning so much about how to teach. I have taught two whole group lessons where I have learned that sometimes you have to teach on the student’s level to help them learn and understand the lesson better. I also have got the opportunity to teach a guided reading lesson which has helped me to understand students on different levels of the reading scale. I think that I am doing well in this class and I am learning so much from my teacher.…

In the 1980’s, the use of technology began to climb. A prime example of technology in that time is the two-way videotex. The videotex was a computer with the capability to send and receive information between two units. The use of the videotex and many other forms of technology created a letterhead for the big boom of technology. However with this big boom came a parade of problems, but there was also some added benefits to technology use.…

In the ITEC 7460 Professional Learning and Technology Innovation course, I was able to demonstrate this by completing an Individual Teacher Technology Assessment using Knight’s Partnership Approach. Using a Loti Questionnaire, an Innovation & Ideas Adoption Survey, and interviews, I admininstered a needs assessment to Mrs. Smith, an AP Calculus Teacher, to determine her level of technology use, her attitudes towards change, and to identify her needs. In order to assess her level of technology use and…

"Phil Schlecty (1994), says students who are engaged exhibit three characteristics: (1) they are attracted to their work, (2) they persist in their work despite challenges and obstacles, and (3) they take visible delight in accomplishing their work" (Strong, Silver, & Robinson, 1995). As I read Levin & Scrum's (2012) description of New Tech High School, I could see each of these characteristics being exhibited on their campus. Kennedy et al. (2006) (as cited in Papa, 2011) stated that schools are not prepared to educate a new generation of students who are well-versed in emerging technology, and this is incompatible with current teaching practices (p. 131). The New Tech High School in Napa Valley, utilized advanced technological and teaching…
