How Did Vincent Van Gogh Use Media In Art

The decisions an artist makes are typically determined by the materials they use, and the techniques that the artist apply to those certain materials. The combination of materials and techniques these artist use are called media. All media is art, and artist use it in their works to visually communicate a message to their audience. Media describes the items that the artist used to make that particular art. Vincent Van Gogh is an artist who used two mediums; oil and drawing to create his work of arts, Irises, and Sorrow. Van Gogh also used different techniques along with the media to visually communicate his art works with his audience. Irises is a very famous painting by Vincent Van Gogh used with oil paint. Van Gogh used oil paints in this particular art work to get that perfect pigmented color. Compared to regular paint, once you let the paint sit and dry for some hours, the color may look faded. When Van Gogh was making this art work, he wanted the color of the flowers look vivid, and he achieved that. When the oil is dried, the pigment does not change significantly.
