The printing press made copying books much more easier than before where you had to write copies of a book by hand which took a large amount of time. This helped the economy while also helping the people because information was being spread faster and more people could read the Bible and have their own ideas of what they believe in. The Catholic Church’s financial income had been affected by the Protestant Reformation too, because one of their main sources of money came from the sale of indulgences. Since a belief of Lutheranism is that the only way to achieve salvation is through faith alone and not by buying indulgences, the sales of indulgences most likely decreased because of the increasing popularity of Protestantism. As another result of the new religions that came from the Reformation, religious wars broke out in Europe. The funding of these wars were not cheap, because these armies were much bigger than medieval armies, and to pay for them, governments had to create heavier taxes and re-organize their administrations. The huge costs to finance the wars were also a big contribution to the states’, such as Milan, Sicily, Naples, and Sardinia in Italy, debts. The economy of Europe doubtlessly suffered immensely to fund the religious wars that were occurring for over a
