The replacement of archers with riflemen was largely due to the accuracy of the rifle as well as its devastating penetrating power. Firearms were able to shoot faster and farther then arrows wail also being easy to use and quick to learn. Even though the bow and arrow is still an effective weapon today its use in warfare is nonexistence this is because humans are always trying to progress and when it comes to warfare they are always looking for an upper hand.
Archery moved from being primarily military to becoming more of a sport there have been archery completions throughout history but it was not until the aristocrats in Europe that it truly took off and became the sport we see
