He came to the United States in 1884 and worked for sometime with Thomas Edison before they both parted ways. He sold many patent rights, including those to his alternating-current machinery, to George Westinghouse. His invention the tesla coil that he built in 1891 is still used in radio technology to this day. Tesla eventually died in New York City on January 7, 1943. Tesla didn't get as many patents as Edison did, he only obtained around 300 patents and sold his Alternating Current …show more content…
The most intriguing ones he had made were the alternating current and the tesla coil, this is so because it fascinating how they work and process. An ac voltage is an electric current that reverses its direction many times a second at regular intervals, typically used in power supplies. The alternating current was important to humankind because a direct current is only for low voltage uses not powering a whole house. The alternating current is used in our everyday life, in our houses, schools, computers, and other stuff. This is done by the use of a transformer that a electric company comes and installs on every street that is needed, then they send a flow of high voltage power, which is then converted into 110 volts. After that is done the power is sent through the electrical system of the house, and don't forget the use of fuses or you might overload a part of the house and fry the wiring. This is extremely riveting because i'm just wondering in how this was created about 2 centuries ago, where nothing was really developed or created. The other important creation he made was the tesla coil which is an electrical resonant transformer circuit invented around 1891. It is used to produce high-voltage, low-current, high frequency alternating-current electricity.
