“Caught in a bad romance” a metaphor that women used to explain how they were not equal to men. Women were not able to speak about politics, men felt like they had to be at home taking care of family. This is how the women's rights movement got its start. A social movement is a problem in society that brings people together to fix a problem. Women were denied rights during the 1800’s, and the Women's Rights Movement came together to solve this problem with the help of American reformer, Elizabeth Cady Stanton.
