Based on the evidence, I believe that the British soldiers murdered the colonists. Many of the colonists did not know what was going on, nor did they want it to happen. While at the crime scene, we noticed 5 men were killed. The fight broke out in front of the Common House, a big building in Boston. While at the Common House, Captain Preston told the soldiers to load their guns and begin to fire.…

Professor Scully History 125-002 Jasjeet S. Waraich 10-23-17 How Abina’s Action was Shaped by the Historical Context The story of “ Abina and the Important Men” takes place in 1876. The Gold Coast has been under the English rules since 1874. During the 19th century, numerous changes, big and small, began to occur in the British ruled colonies in Africa. After many years of slave trade, fueled by the European thirst to grow, the British “officially banned the slave trade [in Africa] in 1807, and later criminalized slavery in 1874”…
I’ve read all of the slaves narratives and not one particularly stood out more so than the other. They were all equally impactful to me so I randomly choose one. The narrative that was randomly selected was the narrative of Mary Reynolds. Mary Reynold is a former enslaved African from Dallas, Texas. She was enslaved on a plantation in Black River, Louisiana by the Kilpatrick family.…
To Whom it May Concern at the Boston Gazette: The colonists are to blame for the Boston Massacre, because they have provoked the British to open fire by forming a mob, through taunts, and by the uncertainty of who was saying fire. First, the colonists have attempted to portray an act of violence without any provocation, which got matters complicated. According to the report of Captain Preston, the colonist “[assembled together] to attack the troops, and [they rang] the bells…as the signal for that purpose and not for fire”. Additionally, someone “ [sounded] the alarm bells, [under the normal routine for] fire. This means that the colonists used a normal sign of warning to gather the people to attack the soldiers, for they used an underhanded technique to catch the soldiers off-guard.…

Authors Main Arguments John Appleby argues that a few women during the 16th and 17th Centuries participated in committing piracy at sea. During that time, piracy was male dominated and any accounts of female participation was small. The author states that it is difficult to find recorded history surrounding females aboard ships because of how unconventional it was for women to take part. He argues that it is not female physical capability that restricts them, but it is instead the environment onboard a ship and folk superstitions that prevented them from wanting to become pirates. To study the relationship between women and piracy, the author examines two of the most well known female pirates in history: Anne Bonny and Mary Read.…
The book Abina and the Important Men is a graphic history about an African woman named Abina during 1876 in the Gold Coast of West Africa. During the 1700s Asante was a powerful state that had control over gold trade and slave trade around the region. In the 1850s and 1860s the British ran into conflicts with Asante kings because they were not willing to step down and let the British take over. This plays a large importance in the difficulty the courtroom experiences when attempting to rule a slave owner guilty, as the British do not want cause problems with slave owners. Abina was a slave during the time period that was given to Quamina Eddoo for a short period of time.…
