How Did Imperialism Cause Ww1

World War I had several different contributing factors leading up to its creation. There was the idea that a particular nation was better than all the others. This idea is known as Nationalism. There were also countries that wanted to expand their reach and take over other countries in order to secure cheap labor and access to resources that they would normally not have access to. This concept was known as Imperialism. Countries also wanted to show that they had a strong military present and would use them in order to protect or further its national interests. This showing of power was known as Militarism. The Alliance System was also a large contributing factor to the war. Since there were so many peace treaties that were sign between countries, there were countries that had nothing to do with the conflict in Europe become pulled into the war due to the treaties that were signed between the countries. In Europe there were nations that were ruling smaller nations also called colonies. It was essentially a race to see who was able to amass the most colonies for their country. France and Britain topped the list with the most colonies in Africa and Asia where a large amount of raw resources were. These resources helped to further the advancement of technology which meant that it also meant that there was advancement in the military system as well. Germany and Italy saw what France and Britain was doing by gathering colonies and they decided that this is what they wanted as well. If France and Britain were able to have them then why shouldn’t Germany and Italy. Since each country was out to prove that they were the best country and nationalism was prevalent this was also another contributing factor to the beginning of World War
