The theme of my anthology is farm animals for grades k-3. Farm animals are an important part of our life because they produce many things. Animals depend on people for proper shelter, care and food just like people depend on them for the many things they produce. Because of how important and common farm animals are to our lives it is vital for young children to be educated on how to identify farm animals and a little bit about the sounds they make and what products they produce. I have chosen books from these genres: folk tales, information books, poetry, pictures books, realistic fiction and fables.

In the story a bear brags to the squirrel about how he can do anything. The bear claims that he can even stop the sun from rising. The squirrel does not believe him so the both wait together to see if the sun rises and of course it does. After the squirrel sees that the bear cannot in fact stop the sun from rising he starts to tease the bear. The squirrel ends up getting stripes down his back and from that day on is called a chipmunk.
