How Children Experience Prejudice And Discrimination

There are many ways that children can experience prejudice and discrimination because children are under so much pressure to fit in.
If a child is seen as different either by the way they look or behave or because of their race, religion, culture or ethnicity they may be discriminated against or bullied.
This discrimination may take many forms and we should be aware and look out for instances where a child maybe experiencing
• Comments about their appearance
• Being excluded because they are different
• Being excluded because they are boys or girls
• Children only playing with other children of their own ethnicity or special needs
• Children only playing with other special needs children
Schools may discriminate against special needs children
