Beatrice visits Dante in Canto II and encourages him to continue his journey by encouraging him to be brave, She says " Why entertain such cowardice of heart?" telling him that he is acting like a coward, Then goes on to say "Why not be courageous and straightforward?" trying to encourage him to be more brave and fearless. Beatrice encourages Dante to not be fearful of anything saying that " The only things we really need to fear are those that have the power to do harm, Nothing else should cause us to be harmful".
