1. INTRODUCTION
Housing unit is basic and essential unit of an urban or rural structure. A cluster of housing has a development pattern and household sizes that could be differentiated. Housing area has the maximum coverage area in any city; therefore, they have to be carefully studied and designed to ensure the healthy environment for the city and the residents. The housing units on a whole form an urban mass where different activities take place. The quality of housing units is not only defined by the internal space and layout but also the external quality spaces allocation. 2.1. Single family houses: Single family house are land demanding but provides privacy, internal and external flexibility to occupants. The entrance to the building is from street side, the building is positioned so that the south sunlight could penetrate the whole width of the plot. The separation of garden area from street provides privacy to the household and also acts as buffer between the houses. The household size for the single family house considered is 3.4. This typology has the provision for parking two cars. The one plot is 30m by 20m and the building footprint is approx. 230m2.
2.2. Row House: Row house has almost all the benefits of single family house. This type could be aligned to the street to take advantages like saving cost of infrastructure, street lighting.
