Strategic Planning The process through which organizational leaders envision the future and develop relevant and appropriate strategies to actualize that future is what is referred to as strategic planning (Yoder-Wise, 2016, pp. 292). The strategic planning process is integral to the success of any organization, and, should therefore be approached with care and complete professionalism. This paper strategically explores the initial stages of the implementation of hourly rounding for nurses to improve patient safety.

The following strategies relate to the implementation of the hourly rounding:
a. The human resource department and the financial department will, within the first two weeks, carry out assessments to determine the exact human resource and financial requirements of implementing the hourly rounding
b. The human resource department will, within the next one month, design and initiate training programs to educate the nursing staff on the importance of hourly rounding and prepare them for the change process
c. The finance department will, within the next one and a half months mobilize funds to ensure that sufficient financial resources are available to facilitate implementation
d. The team leaders will, within the next one month, collaboratively design measures to facilitate effective hourly rounding. Such measure includes explanation scripts and whiteboards to foster more focused rounding

The champions will effect the hourly logs by ensuring that all nurses within their shifts have signed the log every hours between 7 am and 10 pm, and every two hours between 10 pm and 7 am. Also, the 4p’s of pain, position, potty, and possession will be relied upon to ensure an effective rounding program.
Evaluation
This is the last stage of change implementation and involves reviewing the strategic plans at regular intervals to ensure that the goals, objectives, and strategies are being executed according to the plan. Also, evaluation is important to pinpoint areas that need modifications and improvements. To evaluate the effectiveness of the hourly program at the facility, patients and nurses satisfaction levels as well as the rate of falls and bell calls will be used as the
