In 2010, an eighteen year old girl, Ruby Thomas screamed at a homosexual civil servant, Ian Baynham before she stomped him to his death. Accompanied by her two friends, they ran off and bragged about the murder on Facebook and at school the next day. They denied the deceased man his rights as a human being, they took his life for granted as if it was a joke. Life is not a joke.
In Canada, all sexuality is tolerated. Homosexuals have been able to participate in same-sex sexual acts since 1969 and it has been legal for the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community to get married in Canada for a decade. Nonetheless, although Canada is lenient with homosexuality, not all Canadians agree with it. There is discrimination against Homosexuals in religion, real estate, medical care, and also in the workplace.
Judaism, Confucianism, Islam, Christianity and Hinduism see homosexuality as a detestable sin. In the Bible, sexual acts between the same sexes is forbidden. Leviticus 20:13 states

There is such thing as LGBT Human Rights. No matter how a person looks, who a person looks at or even how you look at a person, we are all human beings, living, breathing, eating, sleeping and just trying to survive in this small world filled with hate against people who are the same by people who are the same! In Canada the LGBT community has the right to engage in same sex activity, legally marry, have no discrimination targeted towards them in the workplace, also to be recognized as a couple in society with their partner. LGBT’s are allowed to serve in the military, adopt children, legally change their gender, acquire health insurance, and many more. Although homosexuals can do almost everything a heterosexual can (other than produce their own offspring) it is still evident that discrimination in the workplace still exists and is spreading like

While reviewing the article “When You Are a Gay Boy in America” by Danny Zaccagnino, I learned about many of the positive aspects of the LBGTQ community, while also gaining an understanding of what it is like to live a day in that community. I was entertained throughout the majority of the article and in the end, I could not be happier that he found his angel. While the ending was enjoyable, it was heartbreaking to see some the things he went through and how scary it could be for him at times. One thing that I am taking away from this article is that the technology and the media can often times ruin things for many people. There were two instances in the article that the boy received negative attention from the media, which stemmed from the…

LGBT activists have played an important role in helping to shape public policy in Canada by creating a more equal society for the LGBT community and by extension Canadians at large. For past LGBT activists, equality meant recognition of their lifestyle instead of fear or hostility, it also meant pressuring politicians, organizations and other prominent leaders to adapt and promote non-discriminatory policies which would create less obstacles for LGBT members and welcome them into the public sphere. In recent decades, the mass mobilization of groups has promoted the LGBT community marking a shift from the private sphere, where people were previously forced to hide in shame, into allowing the LGBT community to become integrated into public life. Over the past three decades, activists have led the way in educating the Canadian public which has helped to create a more progressive country that focuses promoting a diverse and accepting society with more LGBT friendly policies, instead of rejecting people because of their sexuality or lifestyle.…

Gay love has been an issue for the longest now and it’s beginning to get out of hand. But that’s not the only thing that’s getting out of hand, what also is getting out of hand is societies view on those who are transgender. Which brought to my attention that some people are so reluctant to change that they resort violence and brute force in order to shape things into their image whenever something that they say is wrong starts to occur. They are only interested and care about what they want to see is “right” day to day. The way we approach people who are gay or transgender is outright ridiculous and ignorant which can easily be added to the millions of other situations where ignorance has occurred in history.…

In a democratic society, it is vital to respect the privacy and rights of all Canadians and through reviewing legislative decisions, such as limiting police power, the Charter ensures more privacy protection and more disclosure. Moreover, through court cases, LGBT community rights have been recognized, especially due to the Vriend case. For example, provincial human rights legislatures cannot exclude protection for homosexuals and that is done to benefit Canada as a whole. It will not affect the majority of Canadians, if a minority gets to live their life the way they want to. There is a reason that the Charter is entrenched within our constitution and that the majority of Canadians agreed to…
