Homelessness: The Role Of Indifference In Today's Society

I am not indifferent towards suffering because to be indifferent in a tragic and perilous situation would mean intentionally being blind towards the pain of others. To me, the given section of the essay, specifically the part which states, “Of course, indifference can be tempting--more than that, seductive. It is so much easier to look away from victims. It is so much easier to avoid such rude interruptions to our work, our dreams, our hopes” means that we as humans are willing to ignore other people’s suffering because we are so absorbed in our own lives and concerned with fulfilling our hopes and dreams or making money (Wiesel).
