Checking blood pressure at home is an essential part of maintaining the high blood pressure. Hypertension can damage healthy arteries and can affect the blood flow in our body. Also, self-monitoring will help the physician to diagnose an early stage of high blood pressure (Mayo Clinic, 2015).My mother was diagnosed with hypertension and having the BP machine at home helps her to monitor and maintain her pressure. In 2004, my mom went to her routine doctor's visit and she found that she developed a high blood pressure. She did not have any symptoms of having high blood pressure. The high blood pressure can cause a heart failure and stroke if untreated. Using the BP machine help her to monitor when to take her medicine, how to limit her food intake and reduce her doctor’s visit.
