Many issues were revealed within this film, feminism, militarization and the circulation of an image and how the purpose of this image can change meaning as it circulates. Her childhood friend Andrea Wolf was an activist who went underground and was working in the free women's army for the PKK (Kurdistan Workers Party) in Turkey when it was suspected that she was captured, tortured, killed and buried in a mass unmarked grave. Steyerl had managed to get a bad quality video from a Turkish television station of Andrea in Turkey talking about her training in the PKK, this features in the film. Andrea's image and her adopted Kurdish name Sehit Ronahi was used on protest posters and she became a martyr to the Kurdish cause and a symbol of the Kurdish struggle for freedom. (Figure
