In the early 1600’s a disease, known as the “Smallpox” wiped out nearly all Native Americans that lived in what we now know as Massachusetts. Smallpox quickly contaminated 90% of Native Americans due to the fact that they had no immunity to such diseases; the Smallpox disease played a major role in decreasing the population.
