When I was first introduced to Lambda Theta Phi Latino Fraternity Inc., certain aspects of the organization caught my attention. First and foremost, the organization promotes unity within the Latino community. Being united as Latinos is essential because together we acquire great accomplishments for the betterment of the community as well as ourselves. Moreover, being united provides the opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities as Latinos and break the barriers society has imposed upon us. For me, being able to interact with Latinos at UNCG, through this organization, and having the opportunity to meet individuals who demonstrate valuable character is of great importance.…

This week, I started to see patients on my own at the Health Department. I saw more infants compare to when I was at the Vine Clinic. I noticed there is a high prevalence of Hispanic patient population in this office, which explained why there were three Spanish interpreters at the site. The preceptor who I am with also can speak some Spanish. I do see the benefit of having a bilingual provider when serving a population like this.…
In 2015, Hispanic millennials made up 27% of the entire U.S. millennial population. And 42% of the entire American Hispanic population is made up of millennials. As time goes on and families continue to have children born into the millennial generation, the percentage of U.S.-born Hispanic millennials increases at every age segment. The increase in U.S.-born Hispanic children suggests the potential for significant cultural change these children will have compared to previous Latino generations that came before them. The majority of the population are located in the Southern United States (Goffon).…

The process includes prepping, preparing, and steaming.…
The Hispanic heritage is a beautiful and diverse culture that has brought many beautiful languages, dishes, and art to different countries around the world, but while these elements have helped make many advances around the globe, the treatment of women as simple housewives and second class citizens in Hispanic culture has only helped make backwards advancements by fueling the American media stereotypes of Hispanic women as housewives or maids causing the average Hispanic American woman to struggle with being thought of as ambitious and intellectual. To be able to make such a statement as above first we must consider and understand where women stand in Hispanic heritage. In the article “Mexican Beliefs and Attitudes Toward Hysterectomy and…

The group I chose to research was the Hispanic culture. I do not know much about the Hispanic culture nor have had much experience working with this culture. Sometimes it can be hard to work with or surround yourself with people when your cultures are not the same, therefore getting to better know the values and customs of a Hispanic will help me to make sure my clients get the most from me Knowing more about the people that I am dealing with is the best way to ensure a good client to counselor relationship. The Hispanic culture is one of the fastest growing cultural groups in the United States. The U.S. Census data indicates that Hispanics will be the largest minority group by the year 2050 (U.S. Bureau of the Census, 1992).…
