There was three gods. Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. Vishnu came first, this was how it was told in Hindu stories, Brahma was born out of Vishnu's belly button. Brahma was the creator god. Vishnu preserved the universe and Shiva was the destroyer. The Ganges river begins in the center of Himalayas and moves toward north. It brings people together on a cultural and social level, the rich and poor visit the Ganges to worship its divinity. Ganges river is sacred to Hindus because many believe that it is considered to be the extension of God and Lord Shiva. The river represents high power to them.
