In those final hours of school, every student sits counting down the last minutes of class until the bell rings and dismisses them to return home. If one were to walk through the hallways of the typical high school’s hallway, idle chatter about high work loads, unfair teachers, and stressful standardized tests would be heard. As a high school student, I have participated in my fair share of these complaints about our school system, but undoubtedly the benefits of compulsory education outweigh the negatives.
