Well, the word comes from the italian word, Caricare, meaning to to exaggerate, and what Caricature means itself is a drawing that gives weight (or oversimplify and exaggerate) to the most striking features to its subject for a Comic effect . His “caricatures” were less exaggative and they had a more of a moral, and he showed the story though different paintings and engravings, sorta like a comic strip! Oh… it is a comic strip! Kinda. And Because of this he is widely known as the father of British caricatures, and the Comic Strip!
Throughout the years, comics and cartoons became more and more humorous and ironic and… well they became Satire!
