A manager is someone whose job is to directly support the work efforts of others. Being a manager is a unique challenge with responsibilities that link closely with the field of organizational behaviour. At the heart of the matter managers help other people get important things done in timely, high-quality, and personally satisfying ways. (Schermerhorn 2012) Henry Mintzberg described the ten managerial roles in three main categories which are Interpersonal roles, informational roles and decisional roles. A manager’s role in the category of interpersonal roles involve working directly with other people, as a manager you have social, ceremonial and legal responsibilities, hosting and attending official ceremonies and events (figurehead), creating …show more content…
Goodnight had a strong moral principles, Goodnight supported the employees during the hard time which was the (great depression 2008) by not firing the employees instead he supported them and motivated them by playing the role of image-builder. Goodnight built an effective team by informing the employees of the plans and strategies that had an affect on their job in this case it was motivating employees, Goodnight was a good team-builder not only he motivated but Goodnight ensured that all employees were aware of the plans and strategies likewise Goodnight reassured no layoffs to his 13,000 employees. Goodnight used Chaos theory in SAS during the great depression to achieve the desired outcome using this theory at the worst time of SAS.
