The Devoted I bet most devout Christians and Jews, who follow the Bible, believe their following the Book of Books down to the core , but are they really taking the Bible literally? Imagine living life exactly as the past prophets did. From stoning individuals ,flying to the holy home of the major three religions , Jerusalem and herding sheep ,performing a chicken sacrifice in New York ,to getting someone to take a house call and come inspect your whole wardrobe for anything containing “mixed fabric”. You can take what the average Christian/Jew presumes to be absolutely following the word of God and amplify it by 100. The authors build the narratives around the Father-Son relationship of God and Jesus because of how much of an impact God’s sacrifice has on Jesus’ ministry. “God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life” (John 3:16). Throughout the book of John, Jesus repeatedly says that he is the Son of God, the Son of Man, and God. If Jesus is both the Son of God and God, then it follows that God himself is the Son of Man as well.…

As seen in Figure 2, the calendar consists of two pieces of paper which I taped to the wall next to my desk. As an object, it can be interpreted as an icon, in accordance with Peirce’s categories, which defines an icon as a sign that “resembles its conceptual object in certain ways”, duplicating this properties and principles (Huhtamo, “Basic Concepts” 258). It acts as an icon representing days of the month and time passing, both of which are concepts rather than physical objects. Beyond the physical meaning, it also sends many distinct messages through the idea of Barthes of denotation and connotation.…
