Before taking this course, I never understood that healthcare informatics was so broad and complex. To my understanding, I was taking a computer course directed towards healthcare professionals. After reading the first chapter of our book, I realized that informatics within the medical field is essential to creating a successful and efficient healthcare setting. Technology has been ever-growing in our society, so it is important for healthcare professionals to understand how such applications could be beneficial when administering care while continuing to keep patient information confidential.
