Before taking this course, I never understood that healthcare informatics was so broad and complex. To my understanding, I was taking a computer course directed towards healthcare professionals. After reading the first chapter of our book, I realized that informatics within the medical field is essential to creating a successful and efficient healthcare setting. Technology has been ever-growing in our society, so it is important for healthcare professionals to understand how such applications could be beneficial when administering care while continuing to keep patient information confidential. This course will provide us, future medical professionals, with the basic concepts of health informatics and how to utilize those skills in everyday
