The organization I selected is a Military Treatment Facility, Kimbrough Ambulatory Care Center (KACC), MD. The innovation that I would recommend for improvement is the requirement for Health Artifact Imaging System (HAIMS) that scans bulk paper medical records and turn it into electronic files.
The conversions into electronic files allows the Department of Veterans Affairs to remotely gain access and attain the medical information needed to process service member disability claims. The problem is that not every clinic within the Army MTF are in compliance with the OTSG policy, as loose document are not timely scanned, due to shortage of administrative personnel and most especial when a Service Member (SM) is referred to an outside military network for care not provided in the Clinic. Since the Military Health System does not communicate with the outside treatment facility, it becomes difficult for the outside provider to timely submit those medical encounter document either my fax, mail or hand carry to the SM
