Sathiya shared she has spoken to the parent and the parent haven’t given her any feedback regarding the child’s behaviour.
I explained to Sathiya that it’s important to continue with best practices where the child’s well-being is being supported in the program. I advised Sathiya to speak with the site consultant about developing best practices in her program to build positive relationship with staff, children and their families.
While modeling and coaching best practices with the child. I got down to the child’s level and called his name and commented about his shirt. The child looked at me and smiled. I quickly reinforced the child for sitting at the table working on his puzzle. I explained to the staff, it is important to model and reinforce behaviours that you want your child to display.
I placed various open-ended activities on the table for the child and his peers to explore. I reinforced the child‘s behaviour with high fives for completing and tidying up his activities. The child seemed to like positive attention because he kept coming back to show me his completed
