A family does not need to be related in order for the group of people to be considered a family. They just have to have common goals, beliefs, and values”(Dee). Family is not defined by those who created you, but by people who support you and love you unconditionally. Families are those who have things in common with you like goals and beliefs. Therefore, genetics are not what make a family. An example of this would be my own family. My friends are not my blood, but they support me and encourage me and would do anything for me which is why I consider them my family. My cousins adopted daughters are not related to me, but they are my cousins. My teammates were my family from softball, my coaches were sometimes my parents, when mine were not around. Also, my family is not just limited to people. I love my pets sometimes more than people. I have a strong bond with every type of family that I have. On the other hand, some people that are related to me, I know less about than those who are not related. Everyone has a different version of a family, but to them it is normal and that is how it should be. Family is not defined by the people that you are related to but those who you have a bond with.
