Brent really describes the perspective that we all miss. When we bully people just because of their appearances we do not take into consideration their feelings at all. People tend to get bullied for many different reasons, their shape, size, skin color, language, and for artificial things like clothes. To judge someone just because he is many feet behind you on a street in New York, because he is black is absolutely unbelievable.…

Imagine living in a world of hatred and sorrow, where everyday you feel like you live in a world where it feels like you are a slave and everybody else around you is your master. Picture living in a world where the littlest of things become the greatest parts of your happiness, in a world where you’re expected to live as a statistic and merely not as a human being. That is the world a bully forces onto their victim. The world should be a place of unity, peace, happiness and brotherhood, not full of cruelty, hatred and discrimination. This is what the band Blink 182 portrayed in one of their songs.…

There’s always more fish in the sea, and there’s always a bigger fish. Did anyone ever stop to think, in their philosophical daydreams, that there’s always a smaller fish? It seems to go without saying, yet still it needs to be said. Maybe it’s just our human nature that causes us to forget that there are people with troubles different from our own that are insurmountable for them, however, it’s my opinion that neglecting that’s at least as detestable as being the source of those problems. Starting in fourth grade, people bullied me.…

Briefly compare the use of the research design employed in the study you selected to that of another qualitative design. Phenomenological designs are focused on understanding the lived experiences of a phenomenon by an individual or more than one individual (Sherperis, Young, & Daniels, 2010). The qualitative study conducted by Berne, Frisén, and Kling (2014), seeks to understand 15-year-old adolescents’ lived experiences of appearance-related cyberbullying. This research design is different from that of an ethnography design because the researchers are not trying to understand the culture of the group, rather they are trying to understand the adolescents’ perspectives about a phenomenon (Sheperis, Young, & Daniels, 2010). In addition, this design is different from an ethnography design because the researchers are not immersing themselves into the culture that is being studied or using observation (Sheperis, Young, Daniels, 2010).…

“Because humans are essentially social beings, the messages we get from society are all important in determining how we fit in and measure up. Currently, the messages from society are loud and clear in announcing just how much appearance counts”(Sneddon 16). The way one measures up to the common day standards of body image, ultimately determines their role in society and how well they fit in. Appearance plays a huge role in how other people look and judge based on physical qualities. Body image is an increasingly common problem in society today and is the leading source of many health issues.…
