Happiness In The Alchemist

Paul Coelho stressed that “Whatever you decide to do make sure that it makes you happy.” The pursuit of happiness is shown in the novel The Alchemist, written by Paul Coelho, and the New York Times “The Pursuit of Unhappiness” by Darrin McMahon. In The Alchemist, a young shepherd named Santiago decides to leave his current lifestyle after having his dreams read by a gypsy, and travels the world to find the Pyramids of Egypt and its treasure. Coelho encourages his readers to follow their dreams by presenting Santiago's journey while pursuing his 'Personal Legend'." Living life through decisions that make one happy, as Coelho said, is the best way to be living one’s life. An important lesson taught through Santiago’s journey is to follow one's’ heart. Following one’s heart and never giving up when following one’s Personal Legend will allow one to achieve their goals and find happiness. If one is not happy with their life and decisions they make, then they will end up falling short of their dreams and with a life they regret. Follow your dreams despite others trying to persuade you and make sure to believe in yourself during every decision you make, because that will bring you happiness that will last a lifetime. If one lives a life where they make decisions that do not make them happy, then they will live life with the nagging feeling of what life could have been. One would be disobeying their hearts desires, causing them to live a life of sadness because one’s heart's desires are what their life should be revolving around achieving. Listen to your heart and make sure to live life with decisions that make you happy, because that will allow you to achieve the best life you could possibly
