They arrived at Gray Village, renamed for the Knight whose castle it surrounded, late in the afternoon. They only had two horses between the three of them and they took turns doubling up, Neph was on foot, no horse even if had been big enough to carry the four-hundred pound ape, would have tolerated him on its back, but he had no trouble keeping up at a travel pace. Josie and Chandi now knew all about Neph and they agreed to help foster the illusion that he was a full intelligent.
Gertrude had become the defacto leader of the the group and decided they would stop for the night and complete their journey in the morning. They were short on money, so they decided to inquire about free lodging at the castle, they were after all, soon to be at-arms

“You're blocking the doorway,” he said gruffly, “wait over there with the others.”
They moved off to the side near those waiting for the tour, the tourists eyed Neph nervously at first, but he nodded at them and whispered in Gertrude's ear, they seemed to accept his presence after that. One young woman, dressed in breeches and a manly looking shirt stepped forward to talk to them. At her side was a rough looking female dwarf and they both carried short swords.
“Hello, I'm Gwladys and this is my cohort Badora, did I hear you say you're related to the Lady of the castle?”
Gertrude gave a little wave to Badora and addressed Gwladys, “I said sort of, my adopted aunt is her adopted sister. I'm Gertrude, these are my friends Josie, Chandi and Neph.”
Gwladys completely ignored Gertrude's friends and talked on as if they didn't exist. “You're right that is a very 'sort of' relationship. Is the Gray Knight sort of your uncle then as well?” Gwladys asked with a smirk.
Gertrude developed a sudden dislike for Gwladys and curtly replied, “Perhaps, but what business is that of yours?”
Badora chimed in, “We were just hoping you could introduce us to him is all, no need to get snippy about

“Yes sir, we're bosom buddies now Gertie and I are,” Gwladys added enthusiastically.
Shaddrack eyed them dubiously, “Uh huh, nobody wants to fault anybody for anything then?”
The females all shook their heads no.
Shaddrack turned to the ape, “What do you think Nephew? Should we let them off with a warning or keep them locked up for the night?”
Neph leaned over and whispered in Shaddrack's ear, when he was done, Shaddrack said, “Do you ladies have anywhere to stay for the night?”
“No sir, we don't,” Gertrude said. “We, at least my friends and I, were hoping to spend the night here, if you don't mind.”
“How about you and your friend Gwladys?”
“Well sir, we'd like to stay at the castle too sir.”
“Very well, at-arms, return the ladies to the dungeon for the night.”
The at-arms escorted the protesting females out of the command room.
Belinda stepped out from behind a curtain and said, “Shaddrack, that wasn't very nice.”
“They deserve it, they're all pretending they worked everything out when they didn't really. I think they need a little more enforced time together.”
Neph nodded his head enthusiastically and chortled, while Belinda rolled her eyes and stormed

It was Imbolc, about a month after Yule ended. By this time, the worst of the biting cold had normally passed, but not this year. It appeared as if winter would linger in Camelot, and a protracted winter tended to put the kingdom’s residents in a foul mood. Since tempers were short, there had been a large-scale fight at the mill in the Lower Town. A group of young men argued about their places in line, an altercation erupted, during which property was damaged, and a fire started thanks to a brazier that had been knocked over.…

The Power of Narrative Narrative is the central element in storytelling. As existence is constructed through the narrating of stories, the ambiguous nature of narrative is a position of real power to interpret history. In Margaret Atwood’s, The Handmaid’s Tale, the author demonstrates the power of narrative through Offred’s resistance in a totalitarian regime that seeks to erase her individuality and, the loss of context when her tale is reconstructed by humanity. The author’s use and restriction of narrative in the Republic of Gilead demonstrates the attempt to establish existence through the documentation of stories in a society that limits individuality. In Gilead, it is evident that handmaids’ discourses are silenced by the limitations…
