Hammerhead sharks are very unusual creatures. They are not like other sharks at all, one may think these bizarre sharks are vicious, but really they are not. These creatures are a group of sharks in a family called Sphyrnidae, so named for the unusual and distinctive structure of the head. Their lifespan in these waters is usually 20 to 30 years. Also in these waters reproduction occurs for these sharks. Reproduction is also very different for this species. Reproduction occurs only once a year for hammerhead sharks. This activity starts when the male shark violently bites the female shark until she agrees to mate with him. Winghead sharks are in the same family as hammerheads, Sphyrnidae. This specific shark has the length of 1.9 m (6.2 ft). They are usually brown to grey and have a very slim body structure.
