While it is hard to justify whether Claudius deserved to die or not, looking at how Hamlet decided to execute his vengeance had a negative impact on his life. There was a possibility that Hamlet could have taken political vengeance towards Claudius, by simply trying to challenge his rule because of his actions to gain power. Instead he decided he would need to kill him to gain vengeance. In tun this caused Hamlet to commit a murder he did not intend out of impulse, both of his childhood friends died, the love of his life went crazy and died, and eventually caused him and Laertes to die in a duel, along with the rest of the …show more content…
When Hamlet decided not to kill Claudius when Claudius was in the confession booth praying, Hamlet decided not to so he would not go to Heaven. While he said this to himself it is a possibility that he was lying to himself and feeling something different that he would simply refuse to believe he would feel towards someone that did such a devious act as to kill his father. Hamlet felt guilt. In a time where religion was a big part of someone’s life, perhaps Hamlet saw guilt in Claudius’s face, real guilt. Had Claudius tried to apologize to Hamlet, Hamlet could have thought it was fake forgiveness so he would not die at his hands. But to see Claudius in a private area, asking forgiveness for a wrong deed, it might have struck Hamlet in a soft spot. The entire time Hamlet was trying to kill Claudius because he thought he deserved it. He thought Claudius deserved to go to hell.
