Hale's Hollow Narrative

The ride from Fallborn to Talon’s Hollow is a long one. Today it is made worse by the waves of pain crashing over me. What they did to me in that place was terrible, but a fine excuse for all the people that now lay dead. After I broke free I had to kill nine of them before anyone would talk. I should have asked them why, but I just want to forget the pain. They erased my memories so I knew they could erase the last year of my life. One of them finally told me that they had a facility in Talon’s Hollow that could do just that, he probably thought it would save his life, HA, they all had to die. Three days ride brought me to Wildfort, a small town in the middle of these desolate plains. The wind and sun had turned the buildings to a bleak grey. Only the occasional weed broke through the dusty well-worn road that ran through the center of town. I finally stopped at a small tavern that had a sign proclaiming it the Faded Mole. I tied the tired beast at a water trough in front of the place, I know he’s hungry, but that will have to wait till the morning. The smell of stale smoke and vomit almost made me change my mind about going in, but hunger and thirst won out. There were only a few people in the bar. I looked over the bar and saw him covered in a beautiful blue glow. When it all happened, he must have jumped back and broken some liquor bottles. That would explain why the flames that covered him where blue, such a beautiful and horrible sight. By the time I made it around the bar, his screams had ceased. It seems the heat or pain had overcome him. Tongues of flame and burning embers leapt at me from the taverns walls and floor, but it could no more hurt me than a fly could hurt an elephant.
