The hair shaft is composed of three things: the medulla, the cortex, and the cuticle. The Medulla is dominant core of a hair fiber. The cortex is area of a hair found outside of the medulla comprehending granules of pigment. The cuticle is the hardy external covering of a hair composed of overlying scales. The follicle is the aggressively developing root of a hair comprising of DNA and living cells. The papilla is at the end of the follicle and is systems of blood vessels that source nutrients to nourish the hair and support it grow. When you analyze hair your must look for the following things: color, curliness, length, arrangement of the medulla, kinds of scales on the cuticle, and the pigmentation of the cortex.
