Matchmaker: How To Find A Curly Hair Stylist For Keeps
Curly hair textures are often overlooked, which makes finding a stylist who will give your curls the proper attention that they deserve a challenge. That’s why this week we’re playing matchmaker to help all of you curly girls find a stylist that will make your curls a priority. Just like finding that perfect someone, finding the perfect stylist requires determination, patience and a whole lot of communication. We may be able to live with a bad blind date but a bad haircut… not so much. We’re turning to the experts for the best clues in finding the right match for your curls.

It’s never worth dealing with a bad haircut for the next three to six months just because you didn't want to speak up or hurt anyone's feelings.
If you hear the buzzword ‘layers’ in the first sentence, you should politely walk out. Or if the stylist says, “I’ve never seen so much hair before!”, most likely you’re going to end up with a bad cut. Ask the stylist what kind of experience they have with curly hair and how they plan to go about cutting yours. Never hesitate to ask to get something fixed after a less than stellar cut, especially if you've shelled out some dough.

Schedule A Consultation: Finding a curly hair stylist is an investment, so you want to be sure you’re making a good one! Try narrowing down your search by scheduling a consultation. Beth Abroms, Owner of Fiddelheads Salon in Washington shares that “it shouldn’t cost anything to just speak with a stylist for 10 to 15 min. or maybe all of $10 to $20 for somebody who charges because they do a lot of consultations.” Remember just because you had a consultation does not make you obligated to get a haircut, it’s important to make sure the stylist is a good fit for your
