Role of the Human Resources Sergeant
Effectiveness, rather than pure efficiency, is the key to the work of a professional. The role of the Noncommissioned Officer corps continues to grow more and more developed over the years. This is especially true as we continue to fight the War on Terrorism. With that comes the need for the Human Resources Noncommissioned Officer to be more professional, ethical, loyal, and adaptive. Possessing some of the following attributes: expert knowledge, trust, leadership, character, and a sense of duty and pride is what it takes to become a professional. Retaining good character allows your personal and professional ethics to be where they need to be, making it easier for Soldiers to undoubtable rely on the Human Resource NCO. Using patience in the workplace to develop the expertise to become an expert, becoming a professional worker takes time to develop. Building patience is an obligation that a Human Resource NCO owes to their Soldiers as leaders. Providing sound leadership at all levels allows for leaders and subordinates to trust in your judgement as a leader, which is essential to Unit Readiness. The Human Resources Sergeant is responsible for everything from Morale Welfare and Recreational (MWR), updating Soldier’s personnel record, and focusing on becoming great leaders. The Human Resource NCO is skillful in not only combat operations, but also having the knowledge to use web based programs which allows Human Resource NCO’s to provide quick and concise statistical data. Human Resources Sergeants are able to articulate the English language of that of a college scholar once received proper military training.
