About HOSA
Health Occupations Students of America, also known as HOSA, was established in 1976. HOSA is a student organization that has a goal of preparing students to enter the healthcare field. HOSA’s mission statement is to “Enhance the delivery of compassionate, quality healthcare by providing opportunities for knowledge, skill and leadership development of all health science technology education students, therefore, helping students to meet the needs of the healthcare community.”
Members of HOSA receive many benefits. Members learn new technical and academic skills to ready them for a healthcare career. HOSA members also have the opportunity to compete against other members. Hosa members master leadership skills and develop responsibility. …show more content…
A commonly used one is a digital x-ray. This type of x-ray functions like a normal scan would, but uses less radiation and appears on a computer screen. Instead of your dentist printing the images on a film, they can zoom in and out of an image on a computer screen. The X-ray helps detect cavities in order to properly treat the patient. In the future there may be many new breakthroughs and inventions. Right now, dentist are working on creating a 3D printer to make dental crowns. The current process requires molds to be made that are sent off to a lab to be created. While the patient waits, they wear a temporary crown that is often ill-fitting and painful. an EHR is a medical record that is put into an online software to be stored and updated. Medical transcriptionist enter the data into the software to prevent mistakes. EHRs help the staff understand the patient’s needs and treatment. The records ensure that the patient will be safe. They also limit the treatment available though. EHRs are only seen by your healthcare provider. If you need to have treatment done at another facility that was not your provider, the records would have to be transferred. This is a time consuming process. In the future, Personal Health Records could be more commonly used. A PRH could be be same as an electronic record, but instead of the hospital storing the records, the patient could. This would stop the problem of difficulty sharing the
