The HIPAA privacy case is significant since it entails the improper disposal of client’s confidential information. In the health sector, it is one of the areas that personal information requires a high level of confidentiality (Carroll, 2015). CVS was accused of failing to maintain or uphold confidentiality in the manner older prescriptions was being disposed of. The employee would go through away the old medicines in the trash without removing the information on individuals using such drugs. In this case, the company failed to safeguard client’s information, and this threatens the company position. It is of the essence to note that people are not comfortable with their health information being exposed to the public. The case was settled that the company should pay a fine of $2.25 million. Then an action plan which would end the issue of confidential information. It involved actions as training the workforce, revising and distributing policies on disposal of information and punishing of employees who violated the policies. Individuals without insurance could buy the drug in cash creating an opportunity for its illegal use and easy way for the abusers to access the drug. The doctors and company employees facilitated in violation of more than 2000 DEA provisions. The other unethical issue is on dealing with shoplifter whereby a man accused of shoplifting died (Ferrell et al., 2016, p.442). The incident was evident in surveillance footage whereby a man was chased from the shop by the manager, and through the assistance of bystanders he caught up with the shoplifter. Then the shoplifter was punched and kicked with the holding him around the neck. The victim mother filed a lawsuit against the manager and claimed that the company was responsible for her son’s death. The approach taken by the manager to resolve the shoplifting issue was not moral. The manager should have reported the matter to the police. Also, after the incident the company should have taken gentleman approach in resolving the issue, and this would have sent a positive picture in the society about the
