Another use of pathos is to discuss the understanding of commodities not being as solid as they used to be. The quality of being solid is getting fewer and fewer as the years go by. Another use of patho is using the emotion to discuss social life and discussing how it has changed. A use of logos in this essay in the argument over whether the community is breaking apart, and there is no unity left among the world. Some might say that the community is still united. That’s why there is an argument over this topic. I believe that there is still a united world, so I would argue with there not being. Another use of logos is that consumable survival needs to increase. Some may find this argument false. However, I don’t find it false. Some people have the opposite opinion. As Tamar Demby analyzes Anne Applebaum’s argument, Demby points out the errors from the writing, she is establishing her position by stating what Applebaum needs to improve and include into her points. She explains how a fair-minded ethos and a fact-based case needs to be established in order to make the argument effective. Demby argues that, “Applebaum undermines her own purpose by basing her argument on unsupported claims, relying on highly emotional language, and failing to establish her ethos as a credible authority on the issue,” and I agree because these were some of the same issues I came across when I found Applebaum’s argument ineffective. Throughout the argument, nothing was directed to the readers besides concern and fear. Demby’s…

In the essay titled “Ways of Seeing,” by John Berger, it is apparent that the author speaks to a higher class of academics that there is a subjective way people of today’s culture view things, including art. He contends that the socially accepted normality’s skew the perspective of the current generation and it is believed that there should be multiple ways of thinking instead of one. Though subtle at first glance, Mr. Berger uses the three key rhetorical strategies; logos, ethos, and pathos to develop a persuasive argument towards changing subjective observations. By tying in logical reason to support his claim, showing trustworthiness, and giving emotional persuasion, the Author uses all three rhetorical strategies to try and change certain subjective thinking.…

This shows credibility because he tells us how we are blinded to how guns affect the nation and pathos when he talks about 30 people dying every day. Most gun owners want to do something about it but they don’t want to change the traditions that make up this nation, although in order to express God’s grace we have to change the tradition. This shows a good use of logos. Also the problems about racism are not coming near to ending so we have to keep talking about the problems in order to solve them.…

According to Aristotle, logos is an appeal to logic, and is a way of persuading an audience by reason. Obama goes back and states facts, statistics and historical events where he had been successful as president. Obama does this to persuade the audience to continue his successes and to fight equal rights. He does this by listing several statistics on inequality, for example, “ Health care costs are rising at the slowest rate in 50 years. And I’ve said, and I mean it, anyone can put together a plan that is demonstrably better than the improvements we’ve made to our health care system, that covers as many people at less cost, I will publicly support it.”…

Paranoid fiction shows the manipulative nature of reality and how it can be altered by powerful forces. These forces can be a governing body, such as a dictatorship or communist government, or they can be an internal situation, such as a character's mental instability or refusal to accept the harshness of the world he or she is in. Unlike speculative fiction, paranoid fiction is written in a way so as to imply that the story may only be a delusion of the characters, instead of treating it as an alternate history or an in-fiction universe. At its most basic, paranoid fiction refers specifically to works about speculations and possible conspiracies by people in power, told by an unreliable narrator.…
