The Second Amendment was made a part of The First Ten Amendments in The Bill of Rights on December 15, 1971. It was made and set on being able to have, and bear arms to support people’s rights as American citizens, and it is based partially on “supporting the natural rights of self-defense, resistance to oppression, and the civic duty to act in concert in defense of the state.” In Simon’s article, she simply stated that there is not a middle ground and, that it has been a long-standing issue.
