Assault Weapons Analysis

Attorney General Kamala D. Harris claims the new laws that fall under “assault weapons”. She explains different weapons that can be considered a “assault weapon”: “A semiautomatic, center fire rifle that has the capacity to accept a detachable magazine and any one of the following: a pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon, a thumbhole stock, a folding or telescoping stock, a grenade launcher or flare launcher, a flash suppressor, a forward pistol grip” (Kamala D. Harris). Anything that can detach a magazine quick and easy without a “bullet button” that feeds ammunition into a fire arm illegal. Harris sets up the new state law for California in an organized fashion, where no misinterpretations can be made, at least for understanding the new general law towards “assault weapons”. In particular this article claimed by Max Ehrenfreund argues about the mass shooting that happened last year at a community college in southern Oregon. The goal from the mass shooting and the article argued by Max was to make sure that guns were not met into the wrong hands. By doing so Obama and Hilary Clinton came up with the idea of making a background check for every gun purchase made. Doing so the homicide rates lowered, but statistics weren’t sure if it lowered because of potential suicide homicides or someone trying to use the fire arm as a weapon. The article itself has many resourceful supporting websites and articles to help make the article efficient and reliable. A good amount of the links within Max’s argument relate to the subject in his article and makes valid points from both sides of views as an unbiased
