They are very close to their relatives, relatives are part of their family. Since they will be the first one to help, when you are in trouble. We occasional visit our relatives in India. Last year, when I went to India, I remember disusing about how India is different from America with my cousin. I remember she said how didn’t like how most American’s don’t live with their parents. She didn’t like the idea of sending them to retirement home. She believed this is one of their ways of getting rid out them. I argued over how they get special care at retirement homes, that they might not receive with their children since American’s work a lot. Till this day she never understood, we would still argue over this topic but it never ends well. This situation helped me understand how our minds are shaped in different societies of the world. How it takes a lot of time to change how someone views the world. It also affected me because she did not have enough knowledge about something she was arguing about. Even when I knew she was wrong, her limited knowledge about it pulled her back from understanding my part of the story.
Even though India is growing advance, but some things are still considered taboo. In most parts of India, a women cannot go outside wearing clothes that are short. With the growing number of rape cases in India, wearing proper clothes is the only solution they came up with. If women wears clothes that are inappropriate in their society, she is not considered good. This has affects me because in a way as I’m also part of their society.
