Group Presentation Paper

Group presentations, although sometimes difficult, can be very beneficial to a student in many ways. When there is equal participation among group members they learn to work together towards a goal, trust others to do their allotted portion, and also get to know one another in the process. This last Thursday I felt like my group, Peter Kost, Ariel Wallace, and Emily Chandler, was able to present a well thought out and carefully prepared presentation. Though there were some struggles in the planning process, we were all able to be respectful of each others' thoughts and ideas for the project. I myself went into this assignment willing to not only learn more about the subject we choose, which was migration, but was also open to getting a better …show more content…
When we first choose a picture to share with the class, I just saw an ordinary picture, nothing was special or stuck out to me. After researching the topic and knowing some back round information, however, I picked up things out of the photo that I hadn't noticed before. Little facts, that although they didn't seem very significant before, suddenly were more noticeable simply because I knew more about the subject and was looking at the photo with a different perspective. Through a thorough research because I knew I had to have a solid knowledge on the subject, I found out the importance of viewing things with an open mind. Overall, this project developed my critical thinking abilities and therefore helped expand my skill as an academic writer because it caused me to think about other opinions and perspectives that are different than mine. Considering this and keeping it in mind throughout other projects in my scholastic future will increase what I learn throughout each task and help me develop the skill of thinking

The main challenge of this group situation is that there was a sudden rise of conflict among members at the beginning to mid phase of the project. This resulted the possible development of groupthink (Janis, 2008). As a leader in this situation, I would firstly feel lousy and disappointed in myself that I didn’t take note of group’s division and how the meeting could be more inclusive of everyone’s opinion (Chadha, 2016). However, at that point, I would also probably feel confused but yet curious as to why it was suddenly voiced out, hence thought that I should facilitate to explicit the thoughts and feelings of each member to better understand as well.…

Communication Essay Assignment: Groupthink Groupthink is a theory that aims to explain, “[. . .] group failures—decisions that in hindsight seem incredibly poor, ill advised, and generally incompetent” (226). Groupthink usually develops when the collective members of a group have similar opinions, attitudes, and beliefs that stifle the creativity and opposing viewpoints of those existing outside the group.…

I feel as if the group project could have been done a lot better I felt as there was more of a focus on getting to know one another rather than focusing on the assessment. Currently I am not as confident on working with individuals that I don’t know so well as I was when we first started as I realized not everyone in the group had the same approach towards the task as I did especially in terms of prioritization despite this I believe I am more confident in showing leadership as Staci and Emily had other commitments I attempted to accommodate for this by contacting them and working out times when they were both free I believe this was a positive thing as normally in group assessments I have a tendency to rely on other people to make decisions like this and it was a positive experience delegating rather than receiving tasks. Overall working with Staci and Emily was fine as I have a more passive personality in group assignments it was a good learning experience for me a study has also shown that working as group positively influences and facilitates an exchange of knowledge(Shaw, Mitchell and Del Fabbro, 2015) this definitely occurred during our group work when it came to elaborating on social determinants I was able to help both Staci and Emily better understand them while Staci assisted me in learning about the stream factors overall I believe we compensated very well for each other’s gaps of knowledge . On the other side of the spectrum our fourth member Louis was difficult to work with as he contacted us the weekend before the assignment was actually ready to present and this caused a lot of stress and panic, after talking to Emily and Staci they definitely felt the same way about the situation with…

During and after the group project I got a better understanding of NAVAL and a better understanding of my group. For example, Lexi is the leader of the group and Camille is the worker bee meaning that she is the one to go to for the information about the presentation. There were many high points in the group such as when we completed are power point early and when we researched the information. I had a blast working with them. A low point was when the video couldn’t load and we had to start from scratch again.…

On November 9th, Erin and I co-facilitated a group discussion around trauma-informed practice as part of our Group Facilitation assignment as second-year nursing students. The process consisted of choosing a peer-reviewed article related to trauma-informed practice, then creating a Facilitation Plan around the article and relevant course theory, and finally facilitating a group discussion. As the next step towards the development of our group facilitation skills, we were assigned to write a critical reflection about the experience of facilitating a group discussion. Through this paper I provided a summary of our group facilitation experience, explored group dynamics, what I perceived as our strengths and challenges, what I have learned from…

However, after completing this project, I felt very accomplished because I was able to communicate my research findings through writing. I also realized that I can take advantage of this experience to communicate effectively to other members of society. For instance, I can use these writing skills to write a proper resume and cover letter that will highlight my qualifications. I can also notify other employees, supervisors and clients of my progress in a project through a progress report. I now have a much greater appreciation towards writing and I realized how writing can potentially change the way we communicate to one another in every aspect of…

Throughout the year, as a class we have been given many different challenges in either the form of an essay, speech, or group presentation. The final assignment given to us was a group project presentation. From growing up in an age filled with technology, I have come to love projects that revolve around making some form of a PowerPoint presentation. This PowerPoint though, was both difficult and interesting for the reasons of being assigned group members not of my own choosing, learning to listen to others ideas which can help me to learn something new, and using former knowledge while working together to create a clean, in depth, and well prepared presentation. With working in groups of students whom I have known since I was young but…

Analytical Essay Traditions have led to people having a restricted point of view on the use of images in various types of texts (Books, articles, etc.). In Scott McCloud’s graphic essay, From Show and Tell, he discusses how the use of images in a story does not lessen the effect the story has on the reader. He believes when text and image come together the greatest works are made. McCloud makes this claim due to his background of being a comic artist. His profession incorporates the usage of both text and image to progress the story.…

Firstly, we welcomed ideas from everyone, without setting any criteria. Our project was to reinvent any product with more features that will be helpful for public. It was a very challenging project because we were to redesign a particular product, which should be more appealing to the costumers in terms of features, solution of particular problems, availability, and cost.…
