I observed that I used lots of Social Service Worker skills, such as reflective listening, clarifying, and information-giving not advice. For example, one of the students in my group shared with us one of the challenges he his experiencing at his placement; he mentioned that he is passionate about teaching, and he has been teaching for many years back in his home country. He expresses his uncomfortable feelings about the high school students he his teaching because they are rude, and the behaviours of those students do not align with his beliefs and values. Based on his expression and comments, I gave a friendly feedback that western culture is different from third world countries because the western world is more individualistic countries and third world countries are collectivist countries, therefore, disciplining is perceived differently.
