Abstract
This document shows the defective design of a product that was produced by Ford Motor Company. The area this report will cover is product liability. Product liability has been issued to save lives, by promising seamless product operation the customer has purchased. Product liability shows the overall picture of the construction of the product starting with the manufacturers, distributors, suppliers, retailers, and many other people contributing to with the product that has caused the injury. The production process includes the producer who creates the car, the distributor who handles the shipments of the final product, and the retailer who sells the product to the consumer. Products that are defective can lead to injuries or death of the buyer, or any third party meaning they can file a claim for product liability. These defective products become a very serious situation because it can harm many people all over the country. Ford Motor Co. was a case involving injuries of Mrs. Lilly Gray and a 13-year-old Richard Grimshaw. Mrs. Lilly Gray being the driver of the 1972 Ford Pinto hatchback ended up dying, and Richard Grimshaw who was the passenger suffered severe and permanent burns to his face and entire body on May 28, 1972. The car was six months old with approximately 3,000 miles on it. The Grays had trouble with car within the first couple months of purchasing it, which forced the Grays to return the car to the dealer for several repairs involving: excessive gas and oil consumption, down shifting of transmission, lack of power, and
