Greenland, located north of the United States, is the world’s largest island. The entire country is only one biome, the tundra. A tundra biome is an area that has extremely low temperatures, as low as -58 degrees Fahrenheit (14.4 degrees Celsius). Because of the harsh weather conditions, this biome has very little to no vegetation. The ground underneath the thick layer of snow and ice is completely frozen, not letting tree and plants root gain access to the ground. The Greenland Tundra has many different unique traits that affect the working and living of the tundra, such as adaptations of animals in the area, how different factors make Greenland the perfect example of a tundra biome, and how we humans can have a major impact on the environment.
