Hedgehogs are by far, one of the ugliest sorts of creatures we take home as pets. Much like a rat, yet covered with long hair that makes them look spiked, hedgehogs are a bit more friendly and absolutely fat, often getting stuck on their large backs, flailing their short, stubby legs in every direction. It is no question that these animals are not attractive to look at. On the other hand, when seeing them play, popping their head out of your favorite coffee mug, or cuddled up in the tiniest of blankets, or wearing the holiday hats you dress them in without protest, they seem not very ugly at all, actually quite adorable and cute. Not only in hedgehogs, but in every aspect of life, there is something both beautiful and ugly to be found.…

Hayy observes the nature and realizes that objects have different attributes but all were connected in some ways and share same features. He summarizes his observations and understandings regarding the cosmos and divides into five categories. The higher categories are more complex compare to the low categories because objects in the higher order possess the traits endowed by the lower ones. The first category is the inanimate objects in the world. They have weight, depth, and shape so he concludes that inanimate objects have extension.…

How does one decipher between living and non-living? In the article, The Definition of life, Professor Farnsworth argues that life is essentially indefinable. He refers to biological life as a continuum. Throughout the duration of the article, Farnsworth explains how in biology, life cannot be dwindled down to yes or no answers. Rather, he quotes, "nature can trick us with questions that have hidden false assumptions" implying that what one defines as "death" is purely subjective.…

The antler of the giant beast impacted me on the head before I could react. It was my ninth trip to Sweden and my grandpa took me on a trip into the depths of a forest. After sitting behind him for a fifteen minute four-wheeler ride, we finally reached our destination. We were following my god-father, brother, and my dad to the perfect area to see moose. Disappointingly, my grandfather made me stay on the four-wheeler because I was too young and it was too dangerous for me to be near these big and aggressive creatures.…

Some cells are uncomplicated, but others are complex with internal structures called organelles. These cells can be put into two categories which are the prokaryotes and the eukaryotes, and they have many differences and similarities. The prokaryotes derive from prokaryotic cells whose fossils have been in existence for over 3.8 billion years, which mean they have learned to adjust to the earth’s environments more than any other life form. Prokaryotes are the bacteria and their close relatives, of which have few internal parts. The prokaryotes are a assorted body of fundamental one-celled organisms that are divided into two major groups: the Archaea and the Eubaceria.…
