The Green Bay Packers are the most successful franchise in NFL history. They are an American professional football team that plays in the NFL. They play in the NFC Conference and the NFC North division with teams like the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings. They have won 13 championships in their history and 4 of those are Super Bowls. Green Bay is a small town with a population of a little over 100,000 in the Northeastern part of Wisconsin, sitting right next to Lake Michigan. After learning under Red Blaik and adopting his coaching style, he was offered a position as an assistant coach for the New York Giants. He coached there from 1954-1958 and then was given a head coach position at the Green Bay Packers. In his first season with the Packers, he put them under a grueling, long training regime in the offseason and his players became stronger from it. According to the text, “From day one, Lombardi was firmly in charge. He conducted grueling training camps and demanded absolute dedication and effort from his players.” (Lombardi). This quote shows that Lombardi was a hard coach to please and it made his players better along the way. The Packers then won the league championship in the 1961-62 season and 1965-1967 had a run of winning the championship. Vince Lombardi then went on to win the first two inaugural Super Bowls at the Packers. Lombardi then retired in 1968 from coaching and then served as the Packers general manager for a season.
